1:1 Support

Hambleton Community Action provides a range of one-to-one support.

Community Visiting volunteers support people through regular visits to those who feel socially isolated. The scheme operates across Northallerton, Bedale and surrounding villages. Volunteers usually visit people on a weekly basis for an hour or two at a time. Visiting times are flexible and are arranged for a time that is convenient for both parties. We can also offer telephone friending to provide one-to-one social support over the phone.

Digital Champion volunteers can help you understand the benefits of being online and can spend some time showing you how.  Digital technology can save you time and money, make you feel more connected and better informed.

Our 'Outside the Wire' project offers support to serving forces personnel, veterans, their spouses and family members as they navigate the journey back into civilian life.  Services include support groups in Northallerton & Colburn plus help with CVs, job applications and interviews.

The Thirsk & Northallerton Talking Newspaper is recorded by volunteers and produces a podcast recording aimed at alleviating loneliness and isolation amongst the local blind and visually impaired community.   Circulated monthly, it includes a range of interesting local news, articles and information on what is happening in the local area.

We continue to administer the Grace Gardner Trust Fund on behalf of Northallerton Town Council and have funds available to assist persons of 50 years+ who live in the Parish of Northallerton to assist individuals in need, hardship or distress.

We can also help with

North Yorkshire Local Assistance Fund (NYLAF) applications.
