About this scheme
“I look forward to my volunteer visiting me. It’s lovely to see cheerful face and have a chat and a cuppa.”
The Community Visiting Scheme supports people who feel socially isolated, through regular visits from a volunteer.
The scheme operates across Northallerton, Bedale and surrounding villages.
Unfortunately Hambleton Community Action is no longer funded by the County Council to provide this service from September 2018. However, we will continue to support our exiting beneficiaries and we have applied for alternative funding. We will continue to take details of people who would like to be considered for the service and will get in touch when / if we manage to find the funding.
How does it work?
Volunteers usually visit people on a weekly basis for an hour or two at a time. Visiting times are flexible and are arranged for a time that is convenient for both parties.
All volunteers have to supply references and undergo a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
How much will it cost?
Hambleton Community Action offers this scheme free of charge.
Volunteer travel expenses are reimbursed.
