Volunteer with Hambleton Community Action

Help your local community by offering your time, and gain friends, new skills and new experiences.

If you enjoy meeting people and can spare an hour or more a week then Hambleton Community Action would love to hear from you. We are seeking volunteer drivers, community visitors and office assistants to help support our essential community services in Northallerton, Bedale, and surrounding villages – please see below.

Our volunteer drivers use their own vehicles to provide lifts for people who are unable to access public transport. Destinations include health appointments, shopping trips and other essential journeys.

Volunteers must have a current driving licence, an MOT certificate and insurance for their vehicle.

Our volunteers give carers a break by sitting with the person being cared for. Volunteers will usually visit for 2-3 hours per week at a time convenient for both parties.

Volunteers support people who feel socially isolated, by visiting them in their own homes. Visiting times are flexible.

Our office volunteers are offered a variety of tasks to suit their interests.
Some enjoy reception duties, others choose to answer the telephone, photocopy, type letters or undertake fundraising activities.

All volunteers are offered training and support in their roles, and travel expenses are reimbursed.

Please note: some roles require volunteers to supply references and undergo a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.

To find out how to become a volunteer, please email volunteering@hambletoncommunityaction.org, phone 01609 780458 Ext. 205, or you can enquire about volunteering online.
